Women’s Plus Size Clothes – At Last Stylish Clothes At Affordable Prices

January 29, 2010  //  Posted by: Jane Wells  //  Category: womens plus sizes

Women’s Plus Size Clothing has not always been easy to find. In the past plus size clothing has been relegated to stretchy polyester material that is not becoming on any body type including larger women because it clings to every bump and crevasse. Larger women could find anything in black but nothing in bright beautiful colors. Eventually designers had the misconception that plus size women only looked thinner in black. Although a darker color may be better for a larger woman than horizontal stripes in yellow and black, nothing is going to make her look skinny so why not go for something colorful and bright.

The model Twiggy made her debut around 1960 and after that all women were thought to be thin and waif-like in order to be beautiful. Prior to that, larger women were preferred. Just take a look at the curves on Marilyn Monroe and all men thought she was the ideal woman. Stylish clothes were only made for stick thin women and the curvy woman could not find a thing fashionable to purchase unless it was extremely expensive.

It was about thirty years until someone finally got the idea that the majority of women in the world were not Twiggy but more plump beauties and they needed beautiful clothing too. Large women finally had it with the ugly clothing out there and demanded to have trendy clothes just like their skinny sisters. Several plus size celebrities took the bull by the horns and soon designers were making clothing suitable for larger women. There were even models that were upwards to size 14 and 18 on the runways modeling plus size fashion.

There are many companies that make affordable plus size clothing today and there are even some designers that specialize in plus size couture. You can go in any large department or discount chain and find a plus size department. There are some clothing shops that mix all sizes in because they make the same style for petites as they do for plus.

Plus size clothing usually runs from size fourteen and higher in the United States and size eighteen and up in the UK. It is also called Outsize clothing in other countries. Plus size clothing used to be made by using a pattern and adding inches to it. Now patterns are made directly for plus size women. Plus size clothing is produced in almost every country on the face of the earth and it makes large women look beautiful.

Even lingerie companies have jumped on the band wagon. They are making bras in a variety of colors and some of them are pretty enough that it is a shame to cover them up. Panties have always been an issue for larger women. They were dowdy and unattractive as if no one but the plus size women would ever see them. Today you have panties in bright beautiful colors, in lovely fabric, in bikini and thongs. Today larger women can enjoy sexy nighties and stylish pajamas as well.

Color is popular in plus size clothing today but you can still find black if you are inclined to do so. It is just that black clothing is much more stylish than it was before. Color is no longer the issue; style is. The most becoming look on a plus size woman is a dress or top with empire waistline or something that falls straight or slightly flared from the neck down.

Plus size women can afford beautiful clothing today. They can get jeans that fit, lingerie that makes them feel and look sexy, and have a variety of clothing from which to pick. It sure is different from the nasty rayon tent shaped clothing that was available in the past. Now plus size clothing is sophisticated and beautiful and just right for the plus size woman.

Women’s Plus Size Clothing has not always been easy to find. In the past plus size clothes have been reserved to stretchy polyester material that is not becoming on any body type including larger women because it clings to every bump and bulge.

About Plus Size Clothing

September 24, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

Although finding great looking plus size clothing remains difficult, it is still possible to discover excellent fashions if you know where to look. Plus size clothing typically receives less attention at many of the major clothing retailers, such as Gap, American Eagle, Abercrombie, Hollister, etc. This by no means implies that such clothing cannot be found that is both fashionable and affordable. To find clothing for plus size that looks great, do some research online. Choices online can be much more diverse, offering a full range of products that will satisfy consumer needs.

Plus size clothing can truly match some of the latest fashions. Some buyers may be daunted into settling for less fashionable choices. At first glance, it may appear as though plus size clothing options are severely restricted. This can seem to be the case when it comes to plus size clothing of all kinds, including bathing suits. In years past, these drab options may have been all that was available. In more recent years, however, the options have begun to truly open up a little more.

Plus size clothing options may seem very limited, but a simple look online will reveal a multitude of options that up until a few years ago simply did not exist. A simple search for plus size clothing can yield dozens if not hundreds of results in the modern fashion market. Brick and mortar retail outlets have also begun to modernize their plus size clothing offerings. Stores like Lane Bryant cater specifically to the plus size clothing market. Other stores like Hot Topic have begun investing in the plus size clothing market as well, creating an unprecedented level of selection.

This is a better time than ever for plus size clothing shopping, with a level of variety available that has never before been seen in this market. Shopping online will save consumers a great deal of money, especially if shopping is done off season. Off season shopping can reveal some great discounts, with discounts as heavy as %50. Retailers struggle to offload excess inventory when the seasons change. Online retailers are also likely to have some great off season discounts, slashing prices heavily. Plus size clothing does not have to be drab, ordinary, or boring. The most recent offerings in plus size clothing have become quite fashionable.

Shopping for a Lovely Plus Size Shirt?

August 12, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

The t-shirt is definitely the plus size shirt you’ll see on most of us for really casual occasions.  It’s just the kind of shirt to wear while working around the house or even running errands. The plus size t-shirt is something you can wear for all kinds of occasions, and they wash up quite easily, too. Cotton as a choice fabric in tees makes for easy washing and drying.

The problem with the curvy woman’s tee shirt is that it’s the one item that manufacturers neglect in our sizes. Those pretty v necked or figure hugging kinds of t-shirts often don’t come in larger sizes.Simply do not revert to purchasing tshirts meant for men.  Take a look at today’s plus size polo shirts instead.

Polo shirts for full figured women come in a huge variety of styles, from long sleeve to short sleeve.  Polo shirts can be purchased in lots of different price ranges, from $15 up to a couple hundred bucks. You can find every possible color in a polo, from bright yellow to pink and sky blue. The less expensive ones simply don’t have the little Ralph Lauren logo on them.So What? There are shirts with tiny horse logos on them and other big name designers have their own logos.  I think I’d rather wear a shirt with a totally unknown logo, and make people guess how much I paid.

We’d also advise you to shop for a colorful big shirt or two. Combine them with tees or tanks to vary your apparel. An oxford shirt is a wonderful choice for business and for the colder seasons.

Take a little time shopping online and pick the fabrics that go with your coloring and personality. You just have to have a lot of shirts to fit your lifestyle. Stick to your budget, though. It would be real shame to have to take your shirts back to the store!

Be sure to have fun shopping for plus size clothing.

The Plus Size Blouse That’s Right for You

August 05, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

Today’s women’s plus size blouses are delightful. That didn’t used to be the case.It used to be that designers felt that the only blouse a full figured woman could wear was a peasant blouse. Designers today have finally got the point that we want the same styles as our thin sisters. Today’s plus size women can buy blouses that are just as beautiful.

Exactly what is more fashionable or wearable than a beautful plus size silk blouse? We think silk is the most comfortable of fabrics, and can go from the office to a date with ease.Although silk blouses are more difficult to care for, you’ll want to wash or dry clean them according to the tag diirections for longer life. I just saw a pretty print tunic blouse at Spiegel which  is available in sizes up to women’s 20 and comes in silk charmeuse.

One style of blouse that seems to make every woman look slimmer is the plus size wrap blouse. It has something to do with the slanted line created by the wrap.Wrap blouses are designed for casual wear as well as for club going or elegant parties.  You’ll find pretty blouses in cotton, silk and satin.  Some  with decorations of sequins, beading or lace. We can’t buy enough of these.

I know I could never walk by any plus size dressy blouses without trying them on. Certainly not if it comes in the color pink. With a lace back, short sleeves and a criss cross wrap bodice, my latest addition is as appropriate for club wear as well as for any important event. Constructed of a blend of rayon, it comes from eVogues and really is inexpensive.

What could be dressier than a silk beaded blouse like the one offered by Newport News? With lovely lines, you can get it in a pale blue or mint green in sizes up to 20 W. Get a lovely sequin blouse as a second purchase and you’re ready for any special occasion that comes up.

You know the term “little black dress”?”  Well, the little black blouse is also a fashion staple. One can find these with thin ribbon straps, square necklines and deep v neck styles. And, you know that black can be either fun or mysterious or elegant.

Plus size blouses are a necessity.  Thankfully today’s plus size clothing designers have seen the light and now give us just as many styles as they do for the thinner woman.
