Women’s Plus Size Clothes – At Last Stylish Clothes At Affordable Prices
January 29, 2010 // Posted by: Jane Wells // Category: womens plus sizesWomen’s Plus Size Clothing has not always been easy to find. In the past plus size clothing has been relegated to stretchy polyester material that is not becoming on any body type including larger women because it clings to every bump and crevasse. Larger women could find anything in black but nothing in bright beautiful colors. Eventually designers had the misconception that plus size women only looked thinner in black. Although a darker color may be better for a larger woman than horizontal stripes in yellow and black, nothing is going to make her look skinny so why not go for something colorful and bright.
The model Twiggy made her debut around 1960 and after that all women were thought to be thin and waif-like in order to be beautiful. Prior to that, larger women were preferred. Just take a look at the curves on Marilyn Monroe and all men thought she was the ideal woman. Stylish clothes were only made for stick thin women and the curvy woman could not find a thing fashionable to purchase unless it was extremely expensive.
It was about thirty years until someone finally got the idea that the majority of women in the world were not Twiggy but more plump beauties and they needed beautiful clothing too. Large women finally had it with the ugly clothing out there and demanded to have trendy clothes just like their skinny sisters. Several plus size celebrities took the bull by the horns and soon designers were making clothing suitable for larger women. There were even models that were upwards to size 14 and 18 on the runways modeling plus size fashion.
There are many companies that make affordable plus size clothing today and there are even some designers that specialize in plus size couture. You can go in any large department or discount chain and find a plus size department. There are some clothing shops that mix all sizes in because they make the same style for petites as they do for plus.
Plus size clothing usually runs from size fourteen and higher in the United States and size eighteen and up in the UK. It is also called Outsize clothing in other countries. Plus size clothing used to be made by using a pattern and adding inches to it. Now patterns are made directly for plus size women. Plus size clothing is produced in almost every country on the face of the earth and it makes large women look beautiful.
Even lingerie companies have jumped on the band wagon. They are making bras in a variety of colors and some of them are pretty enough that it is a shame to cover them up. Panties have always been an issue for larger women. They were dowdy and unattractive as if no one but the plus size women would ever see them. Today you have panties in bright beautiful colors, in lovely fabric, in bikini and thongs. Today larger women can enjoy sexy nighties and stylish pajamas as well.
Color is popular in plus size clothing today but you can still find black if you are inclined to do so. It is just that black clothing is much more stylish than it was before. Color is no longer the issue; style is. The most becoming look on a plus size woman is a dress or top with empire waistline or something that falls straight or slightly flared from the neck down.
Plus size women can afford beautiful clothing today. They can get jeans that fit, lingerie that makes them feel and look sexy, and have a variety of clothing from which to pick. It sure is different from the nasty rayon tent shaped clothing that was available in the past. Now plus size clothing is sophisticated and beautiful and just right for the plus size woman.
Women’s Plus Size Clothing has not always been easy to find. In the past plus size clothes have been reserved to stretchy polyester material that is not becoming on any body type including larger women because it clings to every bump and bulge.
