What Traits To Look For In Quality Shoes

November 27, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

Benjamin Franklin most probably did not said show me a grumpy man and I will show you a man with bad shoes but he must have. They say that shoes make the man, and they’re right on that one in more ways than one. Good, quality shoes do more than make you look good – they make you feel good. A pair of high quality shoes makes your feet happy, and when your feet are happy, the rest of you is in a much better frame of mind to deal with your day. Poorly made and ill fitting shoes are at the root of many miserable day, and here are the reasons.That is why we, at Kenneth Cole shoes endeavor to bring you the latest quality, stylish, yet seemingly comfortable high heel shoes at reasonable costs for everyone.

Poorly made shoes hurt more than your feet. Your feet are your skeleton’s foundation. If there is a problem with the foundation of a building, the symptoms will show up in cracks in the walls or ceilings, floors that tilt in a different direction – even in its electrical and plumbing problems. The same is true with your body. When your shoes don’t support your feet properly, your legs and hips and spine and shoulders and neck try to compensate. Taking any of those out of alignment can cause discomfort, pain and other problems.

How high quality shoes can help. Finely made, quality shoes like those made by Kenneth Cole shoes support your feet in several ways than one. Kenneth Cole shoes are designed to keep your feet comfortable and happy. The heel cup is styled to keep your heels steady, preluding your ankles from tilting as you walk. The shank that runs from the heel to the ball of your feet gently encourages your feet to distribute your weight accordingly. A very roomy toe bos gives your toes the extra room they need to freely move and grip the ground while you walk even if they are not actually in contact with the ground.

The materials that go into making up your shoes also make a big difference. Real leather breathes, wicking moisture away from your feet and letting air circulate around them. That equates to cooler feet, lesser chance of infection and a lot lesser stink on your feet.

What to actually look for in quality footwear. Now that you know why quality shoes are important, let’s talk about how to choose a good pair of shoes that will support your feet – and your body – properly.

1. First, look at the shoe. Style may be important to your eye, but there are other things to look for. Are the seams straight and evenly stitched? Is the leather smooth and well-finished? Does the shoe LOOK well-made?

2. Feel the shoe. Take the shoes in both hands and twits it. It should have a little give, but not bended out of shape so easily. Push up against the bottom of the toe of the shoe. The front of the shoe should bend easily so that your toes and the balls of your feet can do their work.

3. Poke around inside the shoe. Go on, push your hand inside the shoe and feel around. You must feel no protruding seams or rough areas. The inner surface should be comfortably padded and smooth. The tongue of the shoe should have enough padding to let you lace shoes without cutting into the top of your foot.

4. Check the materials. The uppers and lining of the shoes should be leather. Leather materials breathes and snuggles your feet comfortably. You may not be able to look under the shoe’s hood, so to speak, but you can ask about other materials. A steel shank is the most supportive, and leather shoes will wear far better than any manmade materials.

5. A few last things: Excellent quality shoes like Kenneth Cole shoes and sandals can be pricey, but it’s money well-spent. Yet, like anything else, shoes does show what you wear. You’d hate to find a pair of shoes that fit perfectly and make you feel so good – only to have to replace them in just a few years. A good quality pair of shoes will last you up to ten years – if you care for them properly. Look for shoes that can be resoled and reheeled easily. Naot shoes are among the most versatile in this respect – you can replace the entire shoe bed when needed to keep them feeling fresh, new and comfortable for years.

If Only You Need One Pair of Shoes

November 17, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

Your feet will carry you to thousands of miles in your lifetime so it is very critical that you should take care of them. You can inherit problems with your feet from your Aunt Sue but more often trouble with feet are caused by wear and tear or neglect. The shoes you wear make a big difference in the health of your feet. Wearing the wrong size of shoes causes corns, calluses, blisters and even back and neck pains.That is why we, at Kenneth Cole shoes endeavor to bring assist people who are handicapped and are looking for affordable mismatched shoes.

When you have two feet that are of the same foot size then it is easier to look for a good pair to suit your fashion sense and style. Nevertheless, there are millions of people around the globe that needed a pair of shoes in different sizes and there are also many diabled and injured people who need just one shoe. In the United States alone almost 10% of the population wears – or should wear – a different sized shoe on each foot.

Who are these people who need two different sized shoes to make a pair or who only need one shoe? People with feet that are two different sizes, those with clubfeet, polio survivors, the handicapped or injured, amputees, lymphedema sufferers, and diabetics.

So what is a person who has two different sized feet or who only has one foot do when it comes to buying shoes?

The previous solution to this difficulty was proved pricey and rather inconvenient. Often people with feet of different sizes buy one pair each of the same shoe in two different sizes, leaving a closet full of unused mismatched shoes. People who only need to wear one shoe because of an injury or disability paid for two shoes when they only needed one. Some people spend hours visiting thrift and second hand stores looking for two identical shoes in two different sizes.

There are two non-profit organizations, the National Odd Shoe Exchange and the One Shoe Crew, that provide shoes for amputees and people with mismatched feet. These organizations can only help so many people because it is impossible for those organizations to find a matching pair of shoes in each of an individual’s shoe sizes given the many brands, styles, and colors of shoes available.

The World Wide Web has opened up an entire new horizon for people who have mismatched feet or who only need one shoe. In some general auctions like ebay, they allow members to list one shoe out of a pair but due to lack of knowledge about locating the odd shoe sizes or single shoes means that many of these auctions end without buyers. One website, MixMatchShoes.com, offers various pairs of shoes in differing sizes but the selection of shoes are very much limited.

The newest solution for people with mismatched feet are websites that allow users to sell single shoes or mismatched pairs of shoes and to search for other single shoes or mismatched pairs of shoes for sale in their sizes. Instead of buying two pairs of shoes, a user can buy a single shoe or a pair of mismatched shoes from another user of the site, and a pair of the same brand, style, and color in the size of the buyer’s opposite foot from a retailer. Once the shoes arrive from the retailer, the buyer can then post the shoes not within their sizes for sale on the site. This type of website gives sellers and buyers a chance to find the perfect pair of shoes or one shoe in a style and size that fits their feet.

As more people discover and begin to use these sites, there should be pairs of shoes available to accommodate virtually all combinations of mismatched feet so that users will not have to resort to buying a pair of matching shoes from a retailer. Many users with unused mismatched and single shoes ask only that those who can wear the shoes pay shipping charges~A good number of users with unused mismatched and single shoes ask only that those who can wear the shoes in fact pay the charges for shipping them}~{Several users with unused mismatched and single shoes ask only that those who can wear the shoes in fact pay shipping dues}~A good number of users with unused mismatched and single shoes ask only that those who can wear the shoes in fact pay the charges for shipping them}.

Auction, commercial and non-profit sites are adding inventory all the time to make it easier to assist the handicapped and people with mismatched feet to purchase stylish, comfortable shoes. Thanks to the Internet, now buyin gone shoe or two different sized shoes in a pair will become a more pleasant experience. Looking For The Best Pair Of Back To School Shoes?

November 15, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

Having tried shoes for many years, and also being an affiliate to the British Society of Shoe fitters, below are some guidelines to look for in getting your son or daughter the best pair of shcool shoes.

  1. The upper part of the child’s shoe should be made of leather, canvas, or the newer mesh materials. Kid’s feet perspire most of the time, and the upper portion of their shoes should be breathable for their feet to relax. Leather or canvas allows the foot to breathe. Make sure the insole is made of absorbent material. You may also want some extra padded insoles. Avoid man made material, such as plastic as it is like suffocating the feet in a plastic bag and considering that they wear it for an average 8 hours a day the long term could be permanent damage to the feet. That is why we, at Kenneth Cole shoes endeavor to bring you the latest quality, stylish, yet seemingly comfortable footwear at reasonable costs for everyone.
  2. Avoid high heeled shoes; there are 3 reasons for this. First and foremost, it reduces the possibility of the child getting a twisted ankle due to a very tight shoes. Secondly, it can exacerbate conditions like pronation or supination. Every human displays a degree of pronation or supination, but in children it can be aggravated by wearing inappropriate high heeled shoes. Thirdly, high heels can cause the foot to slide forward, cramping the toes against the shoe.
  3. For a new pair of school shoes, if you cannot get your finger at the back without the child squeezing his or feet then you have bought the wrong size. A good pair of shoes will have this tolerance built into it so you don’t have to upsize to achieve this.
  4. Kid’s are not meant to break into a new pair of footwear. Once they do it is the wrong type of shoes for their feet and thusly should not be worn in the very first place, since it can lead to a permanent foot damage.
  5. Have your kid’s feet measured at least every three months, when parents come into the shop the first crucial thing to ask is what is the child’s shoes size. We do this because we want the parents more involved in the awareness of their child’s feet development; Most parents are often surprised when they discover that their child’s shoe size has moved on 2 or more sizes since their last new pair.

I hope these tips will help you to make the right decision in getting your child the best pair of shoes you can afford. Thanks for taking interest in the proper development of your child’s feet.

Finding The Perfect Fit

November 08, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: plus size women clothing

I was at a dance event recently where I offered people free shoe advice. I heard lots of foot related complaints. I also noticed a lot of similarities in the shoe habits of men and women who had “foot problems”. They were squeezing their feet into tiny little shoes. “My big toe joint hurts during or after dancing” was a common complaint. Whether it be the joint of the big toe, the balls of the foot, arch or heel pain, or blisters. The percentage of people I see for foot problems that are caused by misfit shoes is very high. That is why at Kenneth Cole shoes we make sure each piece fits correctly.

Since shoe fit affects foot function, the marriage between foot and shoe needs to be a harmonious one. Several individuals with foot problems are oftentimes those with shoe problems.
Shoes should allow the foot to do its job while still protecting it from the forces of walking 10,000+ steps you take a day. During this daily venture your feet will take on many tasks.

Your feet:

- help propel you;

- allow you to stand up straight;

- hold excess weight;

- take you a distance equivalent to at least eight times around the world during your lifetime;

- take you to places where you can interact with others;

-help you locate furniture in the dark.

Your foot needs to act as a loose, “bag of bones” when it hits the ground to adapt to uneven surfaces. Subsequently, your feet will absorb the shock totaling to 250% of your own body weight. It will then transform itself into a rigid, propulsive lever to move you forward. Your feet perform all these functions in a fraction of a second, thousands of times over. The shoes you wear can allow, or inhibit your feet from doing these functions efficiently. Check out other kenneth cole accessories to do away with these feet discomforts now.

How tight shoes affect the foot can be a through a multitude of conditions. Short footwear can bunch up your toes, causing them to curl or ‘claw’ while you wear them, and in the long run, they tend to permanently distort your feet. This position can develop corns on the tops of the toes, and calluses on the undersides of the toe pads, as well as across the balls of the foot.

Short shoes will definitely contribute to bunions. They force the big toe to bend out towards the lesser toes, while at the same time putting pressure on the inside of the foot, on the big toe joint. It does this because short shoes put the widest part of the foot in a slightly narrower portion of the shoe, up towards the front. This is not the only reason why people get bunions, but it’s a sure contributor.

Short shoes can also affect how your big toe functions. If your heel lifts from the ground, your big toes will raise. This is a moment when your foot must transform itself from a shock absorber, to a rigid propulsive lever. When your big toe lifts, it starts a mecahnism on your feet that raises your arch, locking the joints in the mid-foot, and prepare the foot to start becoming rigid. If your shoe is very short, then the big toe will definitely not aligh with the bending point of the shoe.

When picking the right shoe size, one should have his feet duly measured. Our feet have in fact two length measurements. From heel to toe, or your “overall length,” and from heel to ball, or “arch length.” Let’s say a person has a size 10 overall length, but measures a size 11 arch length. This individual would benefit from wearing a size 10 shoe, even if their overall length is a 9, as the shoe size 11 will have to bend at the same point as their foot. this will provide an optimal situation for proper toe function. As far as the size 11 shoe then being 1 size bigger than the person’s overall length, there are far fewer problems associated with a shoe being too big by one size than too small.

As a shoe fitting guideline, you must have enough space in your shoe at the end of your longest toe to ensure that it fits the width of your index finger.

Narrow shoes push the balls of your feet together and pinch nerves in-between the balls of your feet which can cause painful “neuromas” in the forefoot. Neuromas are horribly problematic, and if non-responsive to conservative treatment, require injections, and/or surgery which results in loss of sensation to the affected toes and wrinkles on your face from the pain. The recurrence of neuromas are most probable, as many individuals experience relief from very invasive treatment that goes right back to wearing the same shoes that practically caused the condition. The same is true with bunions.

So, what size shoes do I need? What kind of shoes? What exact shape?

When trying on shoes, you should try on both shoes and walk around. If the shoes are for dancing, do a little dance in the store. If a shoe fits, you should forget you even have it on. Believing a shoe should “break in”, only relates to any leather or fabric that needs to soften. This is true with some shoes. But NEVER buy a shoe that you know is constricting, thinking that your foot is going to make a short, narrow shoe fit better over time. You may as well be able to break a poorly fitted footwear, however your foot will always suffer. When choosing a shoe shape, try to pick something that is shaped more like your foot than pointy. Not all pointy shoes are bad, but many of them do force your big toe outward into a bunion shape. Be aware of that. Your big toe acts as a hinge, made to only move up and down. When you force it outward, but still demand it function normally, it has long term degenerative effects.

When deciding if a shoes’ shape is right for you, take the shoe and put it right next to your foot and compare shapes. Does the shoe look impossibly small? When you put the shoe on, is the leather or fabric around the front of the shoe super tight? It shouldn’t be. Have you got toe room? Will the piggies wiggle? They should be able to.

Use these guidelines to find a shoe that fits and functions well. There are shoes out there that can suit many purposes, from work to the dance floor. you’ll be surprised what shoes can be found if you just try some on. Many social dancers adopt regular shoes as their weapons of choice, and have them sueded to give the adequate amount of slip on the floor. If you suffer, and you feel that your shoes are causing the problem, you’re probably right. You need to alter your shoe size and/or style to insure that your time dancing, and walking is a pleasure, and pain-free.
